Description
according to the Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation, nine major industry clusters (i.e. sectors of employment) help drive the region’s economy. Many of these clusters are present here in a greater share than can be found nationwide, signaling their importance, as well as their potential to lead to additional jobs and economic activity throughout other sectors. Because of their role in the region, areas that host these clusters remain important to the region’s economic health and vitality.Industry cluster employment data was selected from the region using NAICS codes and a kernel density analysis was performed. The data was classified into quartiles. The lowest quartile was dropped and the highest 3 were reclassified with the names Low, Medium, and High. The raster was exported into a polygon for ease of use. DRCOG’s employment data comes from the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment’s Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages and Infogroup. The industry NAICS codes are from the 2017 Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation Metro Denver and Northern Colorado Industry Cluster Profile.
Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) provides data in multiple formats to support a wide range of applications, including Shapefile, GeoJSON, WMS, and KML. Shapefile and KML formats are available as downloadable files. GeoJSON and WMS are provided as URL services.
Please note that spatial reference information for GeoJSON and WMS services may need to be adjusted before use in web mapping applications. For questions or assistance accessing or using the data, please email geospatial@drcog.org.
